COMPASSION FATIGUE

Healthcare workers in palliative, hospice, oncology, geriatric and critical care settings face unique challenges surrounding working with patients at end of life. Walking with patients as they experience physical, emotional, cognitive, and lifestyle changes can bring up a providers own stories of loss. As providers build relationships with patients, it can be difficult to remain present and empathetic as these may feel more pain the longer a provider works with a specific patient.

The Maryland Doula Collective works with healthcare providers to learn strategies for limiting burnout and compassion fatigue. Through mindfulness, somatic awareness guidance, and personal boundaries our doulas support your team to continue doing the work they love.
